This past December, Lake Shore High School students celebrated 12 fun days of holiday activities sponsored by the Student Government Association. It has become a new tradition for the officers to plan enjoyable and meaningful activities the last 12 days of school in December before students and staff leave for holiday recess.
The Association reaches out to the school’s many clubs and organizations to sponsor a day of their choice. That club then plans an activity for students and staff to partake in. Students participated in gingerbread house building contests, candy cane sales, selfies with Santa, gift wrapping collecting hats and gloves for those in need, door decorating, and a holiday stuffed animal give-away sponsored by Pet Smart.
One of the most popular events of the season was our annual ice skating trip to Canalside Buffalo. Over 80 students attended allowing them to get some exercise and see the beauty of our ever-changing city. Special recognition and gratitude goes to our administration and many club advisors who helped sponsor and support these activities. Student Government could not have planned these events without your assistance.
Also, a special thank you to the Dunkirk Pet Smart for their generosity. Our hope is that our students learned about the importance and joy of giving back and will continue to "pay-it-forward" long after they leave the halls of Lake Shore Senior High.
