World Premiere of Commissioned Piece by Rossano Galante Highlights LSHS June 5 Concert
The public is invited to the Lake Shore High School Music Department’s (free) Spring Concert on Monday, June 5, at 6:50 p.m. in the High School Auditorium, 959 Beach Road, Angola.
This concert will be highlighted by the first public performance of “Champions of the Sky,” a commissioned piece by internationally-renowned composer and film orchestrator Rossano Galante.
“The Symphonic Band, our five-time National Grand Champion at OrlandoFest, will perform the piece,” said Eric Blodgett, music department chair. “Students will spend the day rehearsing with Mr. Galante, who will be in attendance from Los Angeles. The concert will be professionally recorded by Mark Custom Recording. We plan to submit the work for publication in January 2024 and hope it will become a staple in band literature for generations.”
Mr. Blodgett notes that “Champions" was written in tribute to the music students, parents, alumni and Music Boosters for their years of dedication and service.
Also featured in the concert are Lake Shore’s award-winning String Orchestra, Mixed Chorus and Show Choir.
