OUTSIDE: Masks Off; INSIDE Masks On

The following communication has been sent to the families of all Lake Shore Central School District students regarding mask requirements while in school:

June 8, 2021

Dear Lake Shore Family,

Earlier today at his press conference and in a press release, Governor Cuomo announced a change to the current New York State school mask requirement.  This change states that masks are no longer required when students are outside.  The mask requirement for wearing a mask inside is unchanged.  Students and staff are required to wear masks inside of school buildings and on school buses, except during meals and mask breaks.

Accordingly, beginning tomorrow, June 8, 2021, and until further guidance is received, students and staff are not required to wear a mask while outdoors for recess, physical education class or during outdoor classroom instruction.

We would like to thank the community for your patience and understanding, as we have had to readjust to the many changes of these past sixteen months.  Let’s all have a safe and happy end to the 20-21 school year.

Sincerely,

Charles Galluzzo, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
