Lake Shore High School Celebrates Holiday season with 12 Days of Christmas
This past December, Lake Shore High School students celebrated 12 fun days of holiday activities and fun sponsored by the Student Government Association. This has become an annual tradition for Lake Shore students, and it truly helps students get in the holiday spirit. The Student Government officers plan fun and meaningful activities the last 12 days of school in December before students and staff go on vacation. The Association reaches out to the school’s many clubs and organizations to sponsor a day. That club then plans a fun or benevolent activity for students and staff to partake in. Club’s planned activities that invoked student participation, compassion, generosity--oh and fun. Specifically, students partook in gingerbread house building contests, candy cane sales, selfies with Santa, gift wrapping, holiday song contests, international days of caring, collecting hats and gloves for those in need and door decorating, and a holiday stuffed animal give-away sponsored by Pet Smart. One of the most popular events of the season was our annual ice skating trip to Canalside in Buffalo. Over 80 LS students attended this fun event allowing them to both get some exercise and see the beauty of our ever-changing city. Special recognition and gratitude goes to our administration and many club advisors who helped sponsor and support these activities. Also, thank you to the Dunkirk Pet Smart for their generosity. Student Government could not have planned these events without your assistance. Our hope is that our students learned about the importance and joy of giving back and will continue to "pay-it-forward" long after they leave the halls of Lake Shore High School.
