No Child Left Behind Act
The Title I Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the “No Child Left Behind Act” (NCLB) of 2002, requires that school districts notify parents of each student attending a school receiving Title I federal funds (John T. Waugh, Anthony J. Schmidt, and Lake Shore Middle) that they may request information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s teacher(s).
Please be advised that all current and newly appointed teachers in this district possess either Bachelor’s degrees and/or Master’s degrees in their major field and have an Initial, Professional or Permanent New York State issued certificate in elementary education and/or the subject they teach. Para-professionals (teaching assistants) employed by the district meet New York State requirements. All Lake Shore teachers and para-professionals are considered highly qualified per the requirements of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
If you would like information on the professional qualifications of your child’s teacher(s) in a Title I School (John T. Waugh, Anthony J. Schmidt, and Lake Shore Middle), please contact the Superintendent in writing or call 716-926-2202.
