At our halfway point of the 2018-19 school year, we have experienced a strong start and our students are engaged in meaningful learning. We have and always will take pride in the rigorous education provided at every District level and our highest priority continues to be the success of all of our students. The administration, faculty, and staff are dedicated to keeping this momentum going into 2019.

The holidays are a terrific time for educators and families to come together to teach our children about the rich diversity within our community and about the many cultures and traditions celebrated at this time of the year.

Often times during the holidays, it is easy to lose sight of what really matters in life. I hope everyone will take some time to reflect on what is important to you and to enjoy time with your family and friends.

This is also a special holiday time for me as my tenure at Lake Shore is ending.

Thank you to the entire Lake Shore School Community for the last eight years as Superintendent of one of the best school districts in Western New York. As I head into retirement with my “honey do list,” I am recalling many fond memories and great accomplishments I have experience during my tenure here.

As I take a moment to look back over the years, I am reminded that everything we have accomplished has been achieved through the dedication and teamwork from a number of people. I respect and appreciate the many students, parents, community members, teachers, staff, and administrators too numerous to mention for all that they have contributed to make the Lake Shore Central School District what it is today.

I am fortunate to have worked with a Board of Education that is the best in the area! Every Board member who has served the Lake Shore Community has done so with one focus: our children. Although our budget, athletics, transportation, technology, special education, facilities, and community education are very important, nothing compares to educating our students.

As I leave the District, I want you all know how appreciative I was every day to serve as your Superintendent. Thank you for such a wonderful opportunity. Please welcome your new Superintendent, Dr. Charles Gullazzo, as you did me some 14 years ago when I started at Lake Shore. If I can ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask.

On behalf of the Board of Education and the District Office Administrators, I wish everyone a peaceful, joyous, and safe holiday season.
