• In accordance with federal law, parents have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s classroom teachers. Specifically, they have the right to request the following information concerning the child’s teachers: (i) whether the teacher has met New York State qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas he or she teachers; (ii) whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status under which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived; (iii) the teacher’s college major; (iv) whether the teacher has any advanced degrees and, if so, the subject of those degrees; and (v) if your child receives services from any instructional assistants or similar paraprofessionals, the qualifications for those individuals. 

     

    In accordance with New York Education Law, parents and legal guardians may request the final quality rating and composite effectiveness score for each of the teachers and for the principal of the school building to which their student is assigned for the current school year.  The District will also provide parents and legal guardians with an oral or written explanation of the composite effectiveness scoring ranges for final quality ratings, and an opportunity to understand such scores in the context of teacher evaluation and student performance.
