Lake Shore CSD Celebrates School Bus Safety Week

Lake Shore Central School District is proud to join schools across New York State in celebrating School Bus Safety Week (October 20–24, 2025)—a statewide initiative led by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and the New York Association for Pupil Transportation.
Every day, more than 2.3 million children ride over 50,000 school buses across New York State. When those red lights flash, all traffic must stop—from both directions, on any public road. Passing a stopped school bus is illegal and can result in fines up to $400 for a first offense and possible jail time.
This year’s national theme, “Embrace the Bus: Safety Starts with Us,” reminds drivers, families, and students that safety is everyone’s responsibility.
