Altered Furniture Project Celebrates 23 Years of Student Creativity and Giving

Students in Lake Shore’s Painting and Contemporary Crafts classes are once again bringing creativity to life through the annual Altered Furniture project, now in its 23rd year.
Each year, students design and transform small pieces of furniture using painting and mosaic techniques, turning everyday items into one-of-a-kind works of art. The completed pieces are displayed and auctioned during the school musical, with all proceeds benefiting the school’s Art Scholarship Fund.
The project is a longtime favorite among students and provides a meaningful, hands-on experience that blends artistic skill, collaboration, and community support.
Special recognition goes to art teacher Mrs. Zittel for her continued leadership of the Altered Furniture project and for creating opportunities that allow students to use their talents to support future artists.
