About the Board of Education
LAke Shore Board of Education
Dedicated volunteers serving as agents of the State for the education of all Lake Shore children.

District Governance
The Lake Shore Board of Education is composed of seven representatives elected at-large by residents of the Lake Shore Central School District. It is the responsibility of the Board to set policy which determines and facilitates attainment of the goals of public education in the Lake Shore Central School District.
Officers of the Board are elected annually at the Reorganizational Meeting held in early July. Members of the Board are elected to staggered three-year terms.
Board of Education members volunteer their time, and are not paid. Board members must take a sworn oath of office that they will faithfully discharge their duties for the Lake Shore Central School District according to the best of their ability.
The Board's powers and duties are derived from the New York State Constitution, the laws of New York State, and the rulings of the New York State Commissioner of Education. Board members sign an oath of responsibility as an agent of New York State for the education of all children and youth of the state. They do not involve themselves in operating the District, but do receive reports on the happenings in the District and regular progress reports on district goals and initiatives.
