Lake Shore provides comprehensive resources to help families navigate the New York State testing cycle and support students' emotional well-being. Below you will find the official assessment schedules for grades 3 through 8, along with specialized training materials designed to mitigate school-based anxiety and foster student resilience.
Title I & Federal Notifications
Under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Lake Shore Central Schools is committed to transparency regarding the professional standards of our instructional staff. Title I Part A provides parents and guardians with the explicit right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s classroom teachers and paraprofessionals.
Parental Right-to-Know InformationThe district is required to provide, in a timely manner, information regarding:
• Certification Status: Whether the teacher has met New York State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.
• Provisional Waivers: Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived.
• Academic Background: The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree held, including the specific field of discipline.
• Paraprofessional Support: Whether the child is provided services by instructional assistants or paraprofessionals and, if so, their specific qualifications and certifications.
In addition to the information above, Title I schools must provide timely notice to parents if their child has been assigned to, or has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by, a teacher who does not meet applicable State certification or licensure requirements at the grade level and subject area in which the teacher has been assigned.
Submitting an Official RequestAll requests for teacher and paraprofessional qualifications must be submitted in writing to the Office of the Superintendent. The district will respond to all written inquiries in accordance with federal reporting timelines.
