A guide for prospective candidates for the Lake Shore Central School District Board of Education.

2026 Election Timeline

Nominating Petitions will be available in the District Clerk’s Office starting Monday, March 2, 2026. There are two (2) seats available for three-year terms.

Filing Deadline

Monday, April 20, 2026

Petitions due by 5:00 PM

Legal Requirements

Eligibility

Candidates must be a qualified voter of the district, able to read and write, and must have been a resident of the district for at least one year prior to the election.

Nominations

Petitions must be signed by at least 25 qualified voters of the district or 2% of the previous annual election turnout, whichever is greater.

Campaigning

Candidates must file three (3) expenditure and contribution statements with the District Clerk.

Annual Vote & Election

The Annual Budget Vote and School Board Election will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM in  the Lobby outside the District Office / High School Gymnasium. (Entrance: High School Door #7)
