Thank You, Lake Shore Community — Your Generosity Is Supporting Local Families

This Thanksgiving season, the Lake Shore Central School District is grateful for the generosity shown across our schools. Every building held its own food drive throughout November, and the support from students, families, and staff was remarkable. Together, our community collected food and hygiene items that directly serve local families who need a helping hand.
Highland Elementary School focused on boxed and bagged shelf-stable foods such as rice, pasta, cereal, instant potatoes, and egg noodles. A.J. Schmidt Elementary School collected noodles, rice, and pasta sides, with classrooms working hard to bring in the most donations.
J.T. Waugh Elementary School and W.T. Hoag Educational Center teamed up for a Peanut Butter & Jelly Drive, aiming for 600 jars to support one of Operation Good Neighbor’s most in-demand items. William G. Houston Middle School led a Mac & Cheese Drive to benefit FeedMore WNY, encouraging students to bring in unopened boxes to their 8th Grade Team Leaders.
At Lake Shore Senior High School, National Honor Society coordinated a building-wide collection. Each grade level contributed different items, from mac and cheese and spaghetti sauce to instant potatoes and peanut butter and jelly.
Last week, the district delivered all donations to Operation Good Neighbor in North Evans. During the visit, the OGN team offered a tour of their pantry, explaining how families can access food, hygiene products, and clothing. As a fully volunteer-run organization serving hundreds of people each week, OGN relies heavily on community support—support that Lake Shore helped strengthen this month.
Thank you to every student, parent, and staff member who contributed. Your kindness and generosity are making a direct difference for our neighbors.
