🚀 Future Me Fair Sparks Career Curiosity for Hundreds of Young Eagles

ANGOLA, NY – The John T. Waugh Elementary gym was transformed into a hub of inspiration on Wednesday night as Lake Shore Central School District hosted its annual Future Me Fair.
Hundreds of students from A.J. Schmidt, Highland, J.T. Waugh, and the Hoag Educational Center UPK program attended the high-energy event, designed to introduce the district's youngest learners to a world of career possibilities.
A World of Options
The fair featured an impressive lineup of local professionals who volunteered their time to share their passions. Students had the unique opportunity to engage in kid-friendly conversations with a diverse group of experts, including:
-
Healthcare & Science: Nurses, doctors, dentists, and even zoologists.
-
Public Service & Safety: Police officers, firefighters, and bus drivers.
-
Technology & Innovation: Engineers and drone flyers.
-
Skilled Trades & Education: Builders, teachers, and many more.
Hands-On Exploration
The evening wasn't just about talking—it was about doing. Armed with "student resumes," children visited various stations to see real-world tools, try on uniforms, and experience demonstrations. Once a student learned about a career, they received a stamp on their resume, symbolizing their first steps toward their future goals.
"The energy tonight was incredible," said Jim Montour, Communications Specialist. "Seeing our UPK through 5th-grade students' faces light up as they sat in a fire truck or watched a drone take off is exactly why we host this event. We want them to know that their options for the future are limitless."
Community Connection
The event also caught the eye of local media, with WIVB Channel 4 on-site to capture the excitement and interview our future leaders.
The Lake Shore Central School District extends a heartfelt thank you to all the professionals who participated and the families who attended to make this night a resounding success.
