Red Ribbon Week
Lake Shore Central School District
October 23 - 31, 2026
Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free.

Red Ribbon Week runs October 23 through 31 across Lake Shore. It starts with two can't-miss events: Superhero Night on Oct 21 and Take A Stand on Oct 27. Bring your family to Superhero Night, then drive by Route 5 on the 27th to cheer on our students. Let's show them their community has their back.
Two big moments for our students. Save the dates, and help them feel the support.

Red Ribbon Week Wraps Up
Thanks for making a difference this week, Lake Shore.
District-WideRed Ribbon Week started in 1985 after Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent, was killed in the line of duty. People in his hometown began wearing red ribbons to honor him and to stand against drugs. By 1988 it had grown into a national week, and today schools and communities across the country take part every October.
Lake Shore celebrates Red Ribbon Week with Citizens for Responsible Choices (CRC), the prevention coalition for the Evans, Brant, Derby and Lake Shore community. It's a week to talk with your student about healthy choices and the people who help them make those choices.

To the counselors, teachers, advisors, support staff, bus drivers and students who planned the events, designed the stickers, made the posters and brought the spirit days to life: thank you. Red Ribbon Week happens because of you.
And thank you to every family who shares a hero, wears red and cheers from Route 5. You make the difference.
