Lake Shore Parent Leads Community Effort to Support Dozens of Families This Thanksgiving

Lake Shore parent Brooke Hepkins has turned a simple idea into a powerful community effort that is helping dozens of families across the Lake Shore area this Thanksgiving. What began as a single Facebook post several years ago has grown into a volunteer network providing 87 complete take-home Thanksgiving meals for local families, along with a free community dinner open to everyone on Thanksgiving Day.
Local farmers, clubs, and neighbors contributed everything from produce to turkeys, helping Brooke assemble ready-to-cook meal bags for families in need. The effort continues to grow each year, driven by strong community support and Brooke’s commitment to helping others.
A special thank you goes to the Lake Erie Beach Fire Department, which donates freezer space each year to store the turkeys that make this project possible.
Brooke and her family stay humble about their work, but their impact is significant and reflects the generosity found throughout the Lake Shore community.
