Lake Shore Freezin’ for a Reason at the 2025 Polar Plunge

Lake Shore made a powerful showing at the 2025 Polar Plunge, with students and staff from both the middle school and high school taking the icy leap to support Special Olympics of WNY.
Combined, the district raised about $15,000, with the middle school contributing more than $10,000 on its own. The support from families, friends, and community members played a major role in reaching this total.
These donations directly benefit Special Olympics programs that sponsor Lake Shore’s Unified Bowling and Unified Basketball teams. These programs create inclusive and competitive opportunities for students of all abilities.
A special thank you goes to Mr. Timothy Smelser for helping to organize and energize this year’s effort. And thank you to every student and staff member who braved the cold to support a cause that means so much to our schools.
Lake Shore truly came together and proved once again what it means to be Freezin’ for a Reason.
